Approval for Cameratta Properties’ Newest Development
DeSoto Estates Phase One calls for 586 Residential Units
FORT MYERS, FL--Cameratta Properties' newest development, DeSoto Estates, was approved by the DeSoto County Commission on Tuesday, November 25, 2005. The planned unit development gained approval by a 4-1 vote.
The DeSoto Estates plan calls for 586 residential units on a 5,860 acre tract located in central DeSoto County. These units will be the first phase of a larger master planned development according to Cameratta Properties President Ray Blacksmith. The company also has plans to donate a tract of land for a new wastewater treatment facility, as well as, land for other community amenities.

Demonstrating trust in Cameratta Properties' vision, DeSoto Estates was approved as a planned unit development; this type of plan approval allows for variations to any or all of the requirements otherwise applicable by the county's land development regulations.
Currently, Cameratta Properties is developing two projects in historic downtown Fort Myers, High Point Place and First Street Village. At 32 stories, High Point Place, will be one of the tallest buildings in Southwest Florida and will bring 271 luxury riverfront condominiums downtown. First Street Village, a mixed-use development situated on 12.5 acres, will bring 348 residential units, 38,000 square feet of office space and 98,000 square feet of retail space including a Publix grocery store to downtown Fort Myers.
