The First and Only Downtown Mixed-Use Community
First Street Village represents a resurgence of the cosmopolitan lifestyle--the embodiment of new urbanism, envisioned by renowned architect and urban planner Andres Duany, and embraced by the City of Fort Myers.
A Catalyst for Development
In June 2003, Cameratta Properties acquired a 12.5 acre parcel formerly known as Edison Ford Square. The site, situated between West First Street and McGregor Boulevard, is the last remaining parcel large enough to accommodate a supermarket, a necessary component of the Downtown Revitalization Plan.
Cameratta then structured a deal with with Regency Centers, a national owner/retail operator and developer of grocery-anchored and community shopping centers, to bring a grocery store to downtown Fort Myers at First Street Village.
Dedicated to the success of the city’s revitalization efforts, Cameratta, the City of Fort Myers, and a very specialized team of consultants spent nearly three years planning the project that is viewed as the catalyst for a rejuvenated downtown. First Street Village plans were approved by Fort Myers City Council in October 2005.Today, Cameratta Properties is bringing the first and only mixed-use community to downtown Fort Myers and creating the finest lifestyle experience in the entire Southwest Florida region.
