In April 2006, Cameratta Properties acquired a 5,860 acre tract in central DeSoto County, Florida.  Preliminary plans call for the development of a master-planned community, DeSoto Estates.

The property formerly known as the Carlton 2 x 4 Ranch, is located south of Arcadia along two miles of State Road 31 frontage, and is just one of a series of major development ventures underway for Cameratta Properties in southwest Florida.

The first phase of the project received planned unit development approval for 586 residential units by the DeSoto County Commission in November 2005

In August 2007, Cameratta Properties joined forces with The Carlyle Group to develop this project. During the next 24 months, Camertta and Carlyle will plan the development and work with state and local government officials for the necessary approvals prior to groundbreaking. 

Currently, the nine square mile ranch is home to citrus, sod, and cattle operations and consists of about 4,200 acres of improved pasture, 665 acres of citrus groves and 860 acres of wetlands.  Ranch operations shall remain fully functional while conceptual planning for a future master-planned community is designed.
